Our stone-built self catering barn conversion is near Kendal, Cumbria, just 3 miles outside and only a 15 minute drive from the M6 and 20 minutes from Windermere. This spacious holiday cottage with plenty of character is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday with easy access to explore both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. This holiday cottage has plenty of parking, a south facing garden with great views across the surrounding fields and lots of small touches to make you feel you have found a home from home.
Part of a former working farm, the holiday cottage is detached and has parking for two cars on a gravelled area at one end. This leads to the gravel and lawned private south-facing garden, complete with garden furniture. The barn has its own entrance from the garden which faces away from the farmhouse. The accomodation is on the first floor but there is no need to worry about being disturbed from below as this space is used for storage.
Drying space Downstairs
As you enter the downstairs hallway there is a small utility room which houses the boiler and is therefore always warm - a great place for drying any wet garments. There is even space in the hallway to park up a couple of bikes. The flat has oil-fired central heating throughout and hot water on demand.
Accommodation Upstairs
Stairs lead up to the open plan living room with dining area. This has colour Teletext TV with Freeview, DVD/CD/MP3 player and a library of DVD's, books & games plus a good selection of tourist information to help you plan your holiday. There is also free wireless internet access so you can Wi-Fi to your hearts content - useful if you need to google what to see and do whilst you are on holiday.
The kitchen opens off the living room and has fitted units with an electric oven & hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, CD/radio (plus selection of CD's). There are also a few essentials like teabags, coffee, cooking oil, salt & pepper. We have tried to equip it to avoid you having to rush out to buy yet another garlic press... etc. No need to worry about kitchen roll and cling film either!
A hallway takes you from the living room to the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, basin, WC, shaver point and a heated towel rail. Hand towels and nice big bath sheets are provided plus a few little extras such as bubble bath.
The spacious bedroom has a Gothic inspired king-size bed and is furnished with a double wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets in pine. Bed linen and a choice of summer or winter duvet are provided.
General Information
For your safety there is a centrally wired smoke alarm system, fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen and escape window in the bedroom.
Sorry but we do not allow smoking in the accommodation and we do not take children or pets.
Nearest shop is Asda: 5 minute drive. Nearest Pub is the Station Inn: 0.5 mile or 10 minute walk. Nearest town is Kendal: 3 miles. Nearest Station is Oxenholme (West Coast mainline): 15 minute walk. Nearest Lake is Windermere: 20 minute drive.
